Supporting Youth Athletics
Each year the
Dover Police Charities spends approximately $5,000 to assist youth sports
leagues and initiatives. Police employees sometimes coach the team that
the Dover Police Charities is sponsoring in the name of the Police Department.
This provides an even greater connection between the police department and the
youth or families involved.
We also work with sports programs to help them bring a message to the
players about how important it is to be the best athlete you possibly can and to
not let tobacco, alcohol or other drugs interfere with that. For example the
Dover Coalition for Youth, supported in part by the Dover Police assists the
Recreation Department with Coaches' Training to help teach communications
techniques for coaches speaking to their players about drug use and their
athletic ability.
The Police
Charities assists or promotes youth sports in a variety of ways.
In 2011
alone, we sponsored:
A Dover Youth Soccer Team
A team in Dover Cal Ripken Baseball
Two Youth Basketball teams in the Rec. League
Two Teams in Dover Minor League Baseball
A
Dover Babe Ruth Baseball Team
We also
provided financial assistance to:
Dover Youth Softball
Dover Middle School Baseball
NH Extreme Softball
NH Soap Box Derby
Dover Youth Football
DHS Football Boosters
DHS Boys Hockey Boosters
DHS/St. Thomas Girls Hockey
NH Special Olympics
