Crime
Prevention, Safety &
Other Support
The Charities also supports initiatives that help the
police department prevent crime, improve community safety and otherwise do a
better job of policing in Dover. Examples of some of the things the Charities
has done include:
-
Helped the Police Department buy
the first horse for the
Mounted Patrol
when it was started and has received donations to support the Mounted Patrol
even since.
-
Provides over $2,000 of support
each year to the
Dover Police Explorers, a group of high school students interested in
law enforcement as a career.
-
Provides support each year for
Dover Crimeline,
a non-profit organization established to help promote law and order in our
community by bringing citizens, police and the media together in a coordinated
effort to solve crimes through an anonymous awards program.
-
Supports the
Senior Volunteer
Program, an opportunity for older retired individuals to contribute
to the community by assisting the Police Department in a variety of
non-enforcement activities.
-
And provides support for many
other events or activities.
